ADV8005KBCZ-8C is a high definition video decoder featured with industry standard AnalogDevices VideoPlus technology. This device is mainly used for decoding being received through Component or HDMI interfaces. Video information is decoded, by ADV8005KBCZ-8C, into YCbCr, NCV (non-compressed video) or RGB formats, depending on the usage requirements.

ADV8005KBCZ-8C is suitable for decoding standard definition analog and digital resolutions and supports deep color (YCrCb 10/12/16-bit). It has strong capability for handling a variety of colorspaces (from 601 to 2020) during decoding. Besides, it supports various formats in digital interface, such as RGB and YUV 4:4:4/4:2:2 sampling, as well as ITU-R BT.656 and optional HDCP for HDMI sources.

Working Principle

The working principle of ADV8005KBCZ-8C starts from the source itself, where it receives a signal from the source which is encoded with a specific type of encoding. After receiving the signal, the decoding process begins with the de-serialization of the signal into digital format. This is done by separating the components of the signal from each other and decoding them into individual components.

Each component of the signal is then converted from the digital format back into analog format, which is also known as signal reconstruction. This includes the conversion of the chrominance signal (C), brightness signal (Y) and sync signals (HV) into analog format. After signal reconstruction, the video decoder performs the final step of signal processing which is the decoding of the video signal.

ADV8005KBCZ-8C has two video output stages. The first stage is the macro-block based de-interlacing, which produces the final output video by removing macro-block jitter effects. The second stage is the CDQ (Constrained Decoding Quality) stage, which performs a matrix adjustment to the video to improve crispness and clarity. This matrix adjustment is necessary if the encoding technology used to encode the signal is "lossy" (the original video information was lost during the encoding process).
