The ADY32003 is a power relay unit that is suitable for control of AC or DC power. It is designed to be used as switching components in control systems, for such applications as power management, motor control, and temperature controls. Terminal Design

The ADY32003 relay is designed with 10 terminals. It consists of a 5-pin terminal strip that is used for all the connections as well as a 6th terminal that is used for commoning. The input pulses can be connected at terminals 1-4, while the load is connected at terminals 5&6. The common terminal is connected at 7. The response time of the unit is fixed, the average response time is about 3 ms.

Control Circuit Operations

To use the ADY32003, the appropriate AC or DC power supply must be connected to the individual terminals. Additionally, to the terminal pin 1, pin 2 must be connected input with the voltage pulses, with pins 3 & 4 connected to the common line. Pins 5 and 6 are for the connections of the load. When all the pins are properly connected the relay can be activated by sending the trigger pulse.

Working Principle

The ADY32003 Relay is based on a triac inside an opto-isolated package. The opto-isolator acts as the inner core that provides protective isolation between the power supply and control circuit. At the heart of its circuit is an optocoupler containing a phototransistor. The receives small current signals from the control board and amplifies them, providing a voltage pulse to the triac so that the power supply to the load can be activated or deactivated.

The working principle of the relay can be summarized as follows: When the circuit is in the OFF position, the voltage or current of the power is zero; and when the circuit is changed to the ON position, the voltage will be restored.
