The AEDR-8311-1K1 is an optical sensor from the Reflective Logic Output family and is specially designed to detect objects of any color up to 40mm away. Its versatile features make it suitable for variety of applications wherever fast and efficient object detection is needed. The sensor uses a combination of an infrared LED and Phototransistor to detect objects, providing both high speed in detection and robust performance over wide temperature range.

AEDR-8311-1K1 has a working Principle of Through-Beam Detection, which relies on emitting and receiving infrared light from a source and receiver unit. When the Path is clear (no interruption), the photo transistor in the receiver unit is activated, however when an object passes along to create an interruption, the output of the sensor will be switched on.

This Reflective Logic Output Sensor is mainly used for Non-contact Object Detection, presence sensing and counting applications. It is ideal for automated factory and industrial settings as well as motion and process control where a reliable and cost effective solution is required. As it is highly sensitive to a wide range of objects, it can be used for areas like Electronics, Automotive, Manufacturing and Aerospace.

The AEDR-8311-1K1 has a detection range of 0.2 – 40mm and a response time of 6ms. The maximum sensing frequency is 12kHz with an operating voltage of 5-24VDC. The operating current is 15mA with an output of 7mA maximum @ 24VDC. It includes reverse voltage protection and an LED indicator for easy wiring.

Furthermore, it has a long lifetime of up to 1,000,000 cycles and a wide temperature range of -20oC to 65oC. It is available in 8 different versions with a variety of sensing modes to choose from.
