The comparator then compares the level of the signal voltage with a pre-set logic threshold and outputs two logic control signals accordingly. The voltage signals can be either high or low depending on the direction of the light beam.

When the light beam is directed towards the object, the voltage signal will be higher than the pre-set level, causing the comparator to output a high logic signal. Conversely, when the beam is away from the object, the voltage signal will be lower than the pre-set level, causing the comparator to output a low logic signal. The logic signal outputs can then be used to control other equipment or activate other processes like data acquisition.
