RF Front End (LNA + PA) systems have the important task of amplifying the RF radio signals and providing gain and filtering. They are often used in applications where very sensitive signal reception is needed, such as in satellite communications, wireless and cellular networks, and even defense and security systems. The AFEM-S106-TR1G is one such RF Front End component designed for use in the challenging applications found in modern communication systems.
The AFEM-S106-TR1G is a high-performance front end module that offers a mix of features and performance optimized for applications that require extreme sensitivity and low noise. It combines a low noise amplifier (LNA) with an output power amplifier (PA) to provide a complete RF signal path from antenna to receiver. The module is highly integrated with filters, duplexer and coupler, all integrated into an interchangeable package that can be customized for any application.
The AFEM-S106-TR1G can be used in a variety of applications including point-to-point, base station, and fixed and mobile systems. It features a two-stage design, which provides a combination of critical HEMT low noise amplification and high output gain range. The design also provides excellent gain flatness, high power efficiency, and superior multipath signal rejection.
The LNA in the AFEM-S106-TR1G has a wide bandwidth and can achieve very low noise figures of 0.5–1.6 dB. It is constructed using a cascade of GaN devices to minimize noise figure and improve gain linearity over a wide range of frequencies. The LNA also uses a cascaded differential driver which helps to reduce the system power consumption and power dissipation.
