AM1701K is a microswitch designed specifically for use as a limit switch. The switch consists of a plunger, a contact arm, a terminal block, and two contact pieces. When the plunger is pressed, the contact arm presses against the contact pieces, which makes a connection and closes the switch. The load rating and contact material are dependent on the model. The switch can be used in many different applications depending on its model specific features.

Design

The AM1701K is designed with a 6mm stainless steel plunger, a UL94V-0 rated plastic housing, and an integral terminal block. It also has a dielectric strength of 1500VAC and an insulation resistance of at least 20MΩ. The coil rating for the model is available in either 125VDC/4A or 250VAC/2A. The contact material is based on the model – either silver or gold plated.

Applications

The AM1701K can be used in a variety of applications. Its compact size and corrosion resistant design make it ideal for machine security, HVAC, burn sensing, position control, and other similar devices. The switch is also rated for commercial and automotive applications.

Working Principle

The AM1701K works using a basic snap-action mechanism. The plunger protrudes from the terminal block and when pressed, pushes the contact arm down onto the contact pieces. This makes a connection and closes the switch. When the plunger is released, the contact arm springs back to its original position and the switch opens. This mechanism is reliable, repeatable and changes in environmental conditions and load ratings have minimal impact.
