The AM1805AQ is a real-time clock (RTC) designed for embedded applications. It integrates a 32.768 kHz oscillator as well as many functions for battery-backed operation, including automatic compensation for temperature drift and crystal aging tolerance. Working Principle

The AM1805AQ works by taking an input signal from a 32 kHz crystal oscillator and then dividing it down to create a time base. It then counts the clocks generated by the oscillator to get an accurate reading of the time and date.The device contains a temperature compensation module which allows it to adjust the oscillator frequency based on changes in temperature. This prevents the clock from being affected by variations in the environment which can cause errors.The device also has a power supply monitoring circuit which can detect when the voltage drops below a certain level and take appropriate action to ensure accuracy is not affected.The AM1805AQ supports multiple interrupts which can be configured to generate events at specific dates and times.
