The AMS104W is a digital ambient light sensor with integrated rectangular field of view designed for a variety of applications. This type of optical sensor is used to measure ambient light levels and helps to detect small changes in light intensity. It is designed to offer precise operating and high sensitivity levels with the aid of an enhanced operational amplifier.

The AMS104W consists of a photo sensor and transimpedance preamplifier. The preamplifier is integrated to directly interface with a low power microcontroller by adjusting the gain so that the travel of the output voltage is between 0V and VCC. A high performance blue sensitive photo sensor is used. Additionally, the device has a wide linear range 4.9 lux to 22.3K lux for ambient light sensing.
