AOZ5006QI

The AOZ5006QI is part of Alpha and Omega Semiconductor’s family of DC-DC switching regulators. This highly efficient and low power buck DC-DC converter is designed with a fixed-frequency PWM controller to reach high efficiency in a small solution size. The device is ideal for applications that require a low-noise, small-footprint, and low-cost regulator solution.

The AOZ5006QI features ultra-low noise, fast transient response, and high power conversion efficiency up to 95%. It also features an integrated 3A switch, low output ripple and noise (20mV), and independent enable and soft start control.

The device supports input ranges from 4.5V to 19V and offers a wide output voltage adjustment from 0.6V to 15.75V. It also has a wide output current range from 0.2A to 3.6A. The PWM control architecture permits users to select wide ranges of frequency for easy system design.

Other features include a reverse-current protection, over-temperature protection, and under-voltage lockout functions. It is available in an SO-8 package.

The AOZ5006QI can be used for robust general purpose and power-sensitive applications, such as consumer electronics, communications, telecoms, automotive engine control, consumer electronics, industrial equipment and home appliances.

The AOZ5006QI works by utilizing a pulse-width modulation (PWM) control architecture. The feedback voltage loop is used to regulate the output voltage. If the actual output voltage is lower than the expected value, then the PWM will increase the on-time of the switch to increase the output voltage. Conversely, if the output voltage is higher than the expected value, then the PWM will decrease the on-time of the switch to reduce the output voltage.

The PWM switching architecture also allows for improved performance, reduced noise, and increased efficiency, compared with linear regulators. With wide input and output ranges, independent enable, and PWM frequency adjustment all integrated in one small, low-cost solution, the AOZ5006QI is a powerful and reliable solution for many applications.
