Working Principle.
The AP1150ADS40 regulator is built around an adjustable regulator. Its main components include an internal charge-pumpcircuit, two power transistors, an error amplifier, and two reference voltage sources. The regulator is able to regulate the output voltage in a veryaccurate way when the input voltage is within its range.
Firstly, the internal charge-pump circuit runs when the input voltage is within the regulator’s range. This charge-pumpgenerates two voltage signals, VH and VL, which control the two power transistors to regulate the output voltage. When thelevel of the output voltage is lower than the expected output voltage, the two power transistors will be turned on, bringingthe output voltage up until it reaches the desired level.
Once the two power transistors are turned on, the error amplifier will measure the difference between the expected outputvoltage and the actual output voltage. The error amplifier will then instruct the two power transistors to turn on and offin a certain frequency to achieve a steady, accurate output voltage. On the other hand, when the level of the output voltageis higher than the expected output voltage, the two power transistors will be turned off, bringing the output voltage downuntil it reaches the desired level.
Finally, the two reference voltage sources supply a weak voltage to the error amplifier, so that the output voltage can be maintained during the normal operation mode. The error amplifier will turn off when the output voltage reaches the referencevoltage, bringing the response time to its minimum.
