AP1609SG-13 is a high-efficiency, low-noise, tiny DC-DC synchronous step-down converter with a great applicability on a variety of mobile applications. It integrates an 8-bit configurable Microcontroller to adjust the output voltage, an overcurrent and short cycle protection to ensure a smooth operation, and a low-dropout linear regulator to make sure a good system power management. This product can also be used as a single-chip USB/LLA charger for one-port or two-port applications.

Application Field

The AP1609SG-13 is a popular third-generation switch-mode power supply controller that can be applied in many typical mobile use cases, such as battery charging, core voltage supply, digital power management, etc. It is suitable for step-down power conversion to provide a stable supply voltage while decreasing the input/output voltage difference.

Working Principle

The AP1609SG-13 adopts the high-efficiency synchronous DC-DC step-down switching converter topology, where the output voltage is regulated by pulse width modulation (PWM). It integrates an 8-bit digital controller, which will adjust the switch duty cycle based on the adjusted reference voltage. By accurately controlling the switch on/off time, it can achieve a high-efficiency power conversion.

The chip is built-in overcurrent and short-cycle protection, which can protect the system from damages due to the current overload or short-cycle. The chip also comes with a low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator to provide a good system power management.
