PMIC (power management integrated circuits) helps in providing regulated power supply at an efficient and economical rate. A well designed power management IC is especially important in the in the design of LED drivers, as they help in regulating the current and voltage supplied to LEDs in the system. The AP1694AMTR-G1 is a high efficiency one-output PWM mode driver for efficient and energy-saving led lighting applications. It supports continous conduction mode (CCM) as well as Discontinuous conduction mode (DCM).
The AP1694AMTR-G1 isdesigned for use in a wide range of LED lighting applications, such as energy saving indoor and outdoor Lighting, general purpose lighting,signal and decorative lighting, traffic signal, auto motive and industrial lighting, etc. Key advantages includelowburden output current, adjustable powerfeature, high-accuracy brightnes setting and current and voltage regulation.
TheAP1694AMTR-G1 also features fast transient response and cycle-by-cycle current limiting and reduces the system cost and size. It comes with an adjustable power setting that allows users to set and refine the desired constant output power, eliminating the need for external components. Additionally, users can adjust the over-current protection level, resulting in further system cost savings.
The AP1694AMTR-G1 features a maximum output current of 600mA, a wide input voltage of 3V to 40V, and a maximum operating temperature of 125°C. It has an integrated high voltagestartup circuit with a standby current of 1.5µA. The device includes a precision brightness adjustment, cycle-by-cycle current limiting and over current protection for additional safety and over current protection for additional safety.
In terms of its working principle, theAP1694AMTR-G1works by converting the input voltage to a regulated output voltage through the switching regulator. The regulator uses a PWM (pulse width modulation) control method, which combines the power switching function with the operational amplifier and comparator in order to achieve the pulse width modulation. The pulse width modulation control, in turn, controls the output voltage.
TheAP1694AMTR-G1 also uses the CCM (continuous conduction mode) and DCM (discontinuous conduction mode) operation. In CCM mode, the inductor current keeps flowing regardless of load conditions; this helps to maintain a constant output power and a constant output frequency. In DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode), the inductor current ramp up and ramp down due to the load and the output voltage is restored to the target value. The AP1694AMTR-G1’s integrated overvoltage protection and adjustable power setting enable maximum power efficiency and safety.
TheAP1694AMTR-G1 is designed to provide high efficiency, ultra-low burden and current/voltage regulation to satisfy the requirements of various LED lighting applications. The device integrates a high voltage startup circuit, PWM control, CCM/DCM operations, adjustable power setting and cycle-by-cycle current limiting, resulting in a better overall solution and greater design flexibility. The device is able to provide a maximum output current of 600mA, a wide input voltage range of 3V to 40V, and a maximum operating temperature of 125°C, making it an ideal solution for energy saving LED Lighting applications.
