AP2820DMTR-G1

AP2820DMTR-G1 is a power distribution switch (PDS) and load driver (LD), consisting of a power switch, a Hot Swap controller, a step-down converter, an internal MOSFET and current sensing circuit. It is designed for medium-high end compact PoE PD and PSE applications, such as IP Cameras, IoT-connected devices, machine vision, driver assistance systems, and more.

AP2820DMTR-G1’s main function is to provide the power switching, voltage regulation, and management necessary to implement “Load-Release” scheme in the PoE PD or PSE application. Specifically, it allows continuous monitoring of the load current and automatically shuts down the system if any fault is detected. Additionally, it supports the PoE protocols of IEEE802.3af and IEEE802.3at, meaning it can also detect when an attached device is either over- or underpowered, and adjust its output according to the load.

The internal load sensing circuit monitors the current drawn by the load, and the Hot Swap controller will shut down the MOSFET if an overload or under-voltage condition is detected. The internal voltage regulator will then provide the correct voltage to the load. If the load is removed, the power switch will shut down the MOSFET again, disconnecting the load from the input voltage.
