PMIC, short for Power Management Integrated Circuit, is a complex integrated circuit, widely used in various electronic devices, which is mainly composed of various kinds of specific parts, so as to optimize the power management of the product. PMIC commonly used in voltage regulators and liniear typeone of, AP7331-10SNG-7 is a high performance, low current consumption, low dropout regulator (LDO).
It is widely adopted in the application fields of computer, communications, consumer electronics products, such as wireless base station, wireless router, broadband, automotive and etc.
AP7331-10SNG-7 works under a voltage input of 4.0V-14V, and adjust the output voltage to 0.9V-13V, and the rate of voltage adjustment is as low as 0.03%. It can provide voltage output conditions up to 1A. With its high performance and stability, It has become the standard LDO in many handheld devices.
In the function of AP7331-10SNG-7, the most basic circuit of it is composed of five parts: power supply, input port, control port, pass port and output port. The power supply is located at the left side of the chip, providing the operating power for AP7331-10SNG-7.
Input port at the right side of the power supply is the power input for regular supply of the chip, connecting to a higher voltage . Then the input voltage enters the pass port from the input port, controlled by the control port. This control port is actually composed of a reference voltage circuit, a amplifier circuit and an error amplifier circuit. The regulator connects the negative of the power supply to the ground potential to produce a stable voltage to be supplied to the control port which is the reference voltage point.
The pass port placed in the middle monitor the input voltage of the input port, and amplify the reference voltage of the control port to the current level again. This amplified voltage is sent to the error amplifier circuit to be compared with the reference voltage, and the voltage difference will control the pass port. And if the input voltage is higher than reference voltage, then the pass port will cut off the current, so that the voltage generated in the output port will be stable. The output port can be connected with the load, to provide the current supply for load.
For the protection circuit of AP7331-10SNG-7, it has two functions: over temperature protection and over current protection. The over temperature protection sets the temperature corresponding to 127℃, and it will cut off the output current when the chip temperature is over 127℃. Besides, it also has an over current protection which can detect the current to keep the chip from being damaged by over current.
In short, AP7331-10SNG-7 is a integrated voltage regulator, with the high performance and low current consumption. It is widely used in various electronic device, such as wireless base station, wireless router and etc. The input voltage is 4.0V-14V and the output voltage can be ajusted from 0.9V-13V. With over temperature protection and over current protection circuit, the chip is safe and secure.
