Working principle

The AP7381 series of voltage regulators adopt an improved buck-boost technique, also referred to as a negative charge pump. It employs a wide adjustable voltage range, reduces output noise and improves the load transient response. Power is supplied through a stable current source, a.k.a. the switch capacitor module, to the input terminal. It then passes through the switch capacitor attenuator and to the output terminal. The input current of the switch capacitor regulation module is then smoothed by the smoothing network, which ensures a stable input voltage. By controlling the switching frequency of the switch capacitor module using the control block, the output voltage is set to the desired level. The Maximum Output Current Rating of the AP7381-50V-A voltage regulator is specified at 250mA and has a Maximum Output Voltage of 6.0V. It also includes an internal over-current protection circuit, which will automatically shut down the device in the event of over-current or short circuit condition.
