Introduction The APA1000-FG1152 is an embedded Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device. It is one of the latest generation of FPGA solutions, with advanced features and capabilities to help system designers meet the growing demand for energy efficiency and accelerated data processing. Features The APA1000-FG1152 delivers high-performance, low-power and real-time data processing through its on-chip features. It features integrated dual-core ARM Cortex-M4F processors and up to 1 MB of on-board SRAM for accelerating computations. In addition, it supports up to 16 Giga-bits of dual-ported embedded memory and reconfigurable, differential I/O, thereby mitigating board space requirements.On-chip security features, such as Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Hash functions provide a layer of encryption along with hardware-based authentication of the element. These security features ensure data safety and help maintain the integrity of the configuration data.It is a scalable device, allowing the user to configure multiple devices within a system and provide cost-effective solutions that can meet the needs of a wide variety of applications. With its wide range of configurable peripherals, such as UARTs, SPI, I2C, timers, etc., it can be used in IoT (Internet of Things), data centers, cloud, automotive, industrial and medical systems. Application Field The APA1000-FG1152 FPGA devices are used in many different types of applications, such as:1. Industrial automation and process control: The device supports executing a range of cyclic algorithms and can be easily connected to process controllers and actuators for enhanced control of the system. 2. Working principle The APA1000-FG1152 is an FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) device which is configured using an external source, such as an integrated development environment or an application-specific design tool. It consists of an array of configurable logic blocks (CLB) which are interconnected using programmable interconnects.The CLBs are the basic building blocks of the device and consist of lookup tables, flip-flops and multiplexers. The CLBs can be configured to implement any logic function. The programmable interconnects can be used to construct paths for data exchange between the CLBs.The user can define the logic and interconnects of the device using VHDL, Verilog or other hardware description languages (HDLs) and then compile the design to generate a bitstream which can be uploaded to the device. This is called “configuring” the device.Once configured, the device is ready to function according to the program instructions. This includes fetching instructions from an external memory and executing them. The instructions can include data transfers, logic operations, arithmetical operations, data communication between peripherals and other tasks.
