Diodes – Rectifiers – Single are the simplest types of diodes working as rectifiers. It has three main functions, namely blocking reverse current flow, allowing forward current flow and dissipation of absorbed energy in the form of heat. AR1PM-M3/85A is one such example of a diodes – rectifiers – single. It is a type of ultrafast recovery diodes with features like high forward surge current capability, extremely low reverse leakage, low forward voltage drop and low reverse recovery. The switching speed is also high and turn–on time is extremely low.

The AR1PM-M3/85A is widely used in Telecom, industrial and consumer applications. In telecommunication applications, it is used for direct conversion of alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). It is also useful in providing high speed protection circuitry. The AR1PM-M3/85A consists of a silicon epitaxial planar diode connected to a metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) switch. Its circuit diagram is as follows:

The N or P MOSFET switch utilizes the intrinsic full body diode of the device to block the reverse flow of current, while the body diode of the reverse MOSFET determines the forward current flow in the same way that the body diode of the PN junction defines the forward current for a rectifier diode. The MOSFET switch eliminates the need for extra added parts like a diode in the output of the device.

The AR1PM-M3/85A offers high surge current capabilities and extremely low-reverse leakage.
