The AR8035-AL1B-R is an integrated circuit that includes both a physical layer transceiver and a media access control layer device. It supports both 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet and is suitable for residential and small business LANs. The AR8035-AL1B-R provides a physical layer transceiver that connects between the upper MAC layer and the physical medium. In addition to providing the most current Ethernet technology, the AR8035-AL1B-R transceiver supports the IEEE 802.3 standard and is compatible with half and full duplex as well as with copper, fiber, and broadband connections.

The AR8035-AL1B-R features an advanced PCS (Physical Coding Sublayer) layer that supports the serial clock data recovery (CDDR) architecture. This provides the device with an excellent data rate of 10/100/1000 Mbps with no external clock. Additionally, the device is compliant with Wake-On-Lan (WOL) standards, allowing an Ethernet-equipped system to be powered on remotely. The AR8035-AL1B-R is also compliant with jumbo frames, allowing up to 10k lengths in Ethernet frames.

The AR8035-AL1B-R also includes a media access control layer device that supports the IEEE 802.3 standard. It provides the functions of both the PHY and MAC layers in one integrated circuit. The MAC features support the existing 802.3 technology, including broadcast, multicast and unicast filtering, broadcast packet forwarding, frame transmission and reception, packet fragmentation and reassembly and address learning. The AR8035-AL1B-R also supports 8,000 MAC address table.
