The AS1312-TD-50_EK_ST is a topology evaluation and development board for a 50W transformer-based off-line power supply. It is an excellent tool for new product design, system complexity reduction, and system cost reduction for the end-user. The AS1312-TD-50_EK_ST evaluation boards are primarily used in the evaluation of DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS.
The AS1312-TD-50_EK_ST features an easily adjustable control loop componentry with selectable Clock parameters for easy setup. It has adjustable soft-start and light load compensation to ensure a stable output voltage. The power supply is suitable for both Class B and Class A applications, including automotive, video and industrial applications. Additionally, the AS1312-TD-50_EK_ST is easily configurable to accommodate the user’s desired target applications.
The AS1312-TD-50_EK_ST is equipped with a transformer-based flyback topology. The structure provides a wide output voltage range of 5V to 28V and adjustable output current up to 2A. The board has an internal synchronization frequency of 20kHz, which is adjustable to outside sources, including a choice of regulation frequencies of 280 kHz, 300 kHz, and 350 kHz. The board also features low-noise and high-efficiency operation.
The AS1312-TD-50_EK_ST evaluation board works by controlling a constant off-time by monitoring the output voltage. When the output voltage is above the status limit, the controller initiate the rising phase by driving the upper and lower MOSFETs off. The controller remains in the rising phase until the output voltage drops below the status limit. During the rising phase, the upper MOSFETs is opened and the lower MOSFET is turned off. During the falling phase, the upper MOSFETs is turned off and the lower MOSFET is opened. This enables the coil to keep a constant off-time and produce a constant output voltage, maintained at pre-set levels.
The AS1312-TD-50_EK_ST evaluation board is designed to meet the requirements of European and North American Safety and Quality Standards. The board is equipped with a full EMC filter and supports an input range of up to 265 VAC. It also features an overload, overvoltage, short-circuit protection, remote ON/Off and soft start.
