Linear - Comparators provide the foundation to a variety of applications where analog signals need to be compared and correlated. The AS339GTR-E1 can be used to compare two analog signals (input A and input B) to determine the differences of the various magnitudes and time delays between them. It then generates a logic-level output to indicate the direction and magnitude of the difference. This type of device is used in circuit designs for applications requiring analog signal detection and comparison, such as motor speed monitoring, event counting and synchronizing, data acquisition for industrial and medical systems, photoelectric synchronization, automotive cruise control, and fire/flood detection systems. The AS339GTR-E1 is a low power, single channel, monolithic chopper stabilized comparator which operates from a single power supply voltage ranging from 3V to 24V. It has an input bias current of 0.3pA and an input offset voltage of 8mV with a low offset drift of 10uV/C. The gain is 1.6V/V and the output is capable of providing both sourcing and sinking current up to 15mA.The main operating principle of the device involves sampling an incoming signal with chopped amplifiers as well as intra-comparator sample and hold circuits. This implies that signals against the reference, up to a certain frequency, can be accurately discriminated. When the input signal is below that frequency, the output response is flat and all frequencies above that frequency are attenuated. The AS339GTR-E1 uses an oscillator stabilized by an internal capacitance, such that the chopping frequency is constant and repeatable at 7.2kHz.When an analog signal is applied to Input A or Input B, or both, a chopper-pulses the signal. The chopper then amplifies the signal, samples it and reconstitutes a DC voltage out of it. The output pin will provide a logic-level pulse of a fixed width that appears whenever the magnitudes of input A and B differ. The comparator will also identify if it\'s the Input A or Input B that is larger, and generate the appropriate output pulse accordingly. When the inputs are balanced and the incoming signal is greater than the reference level, a high logic level pulse is generated at the output. This means that the input A is greater than the reference level. Similarly, when the reference level is greater than the incoming signal, a low logic level pulse will be generated, indicating that the input B is greater than the reference level.A pullup resistor is used to hold the voltage at the output at a certain level, when the inputs are balanced and the voltage at the output is low. When a higher voltage is applied at the differential inputs, the output pin will be driven low until the inputs are balanced again. The AS339GTR-E1 is a versatile device that can be used to detect and compare analog signals. It is useful in a variety of applications such as motor speed monitoring, event counting and synchronizing, data acquisition for industrial and medical systems, photoelectric synchronization, automotive cruise control, and fire/flood detection systems. It is also featured with low power consumption and low offset voltage, and is capable of sourcing and sinking current up to 15mA.
