The AS3636-ZWLT is a complete 4-channel constant current source solution for driving White LEDs up to 300mA and RGB LEDs up to 150mA per color. It is ideal for battery-powered, handheld applications such as feature phones, PNDs and digital cameras with integrated illumination. This PMIC – LED driver allows users to develop systems with localized control in a lowest possible power consumption and long battery life.

The AS3636-ZWLT integrates multiple components into a single device, including full signal conditioning, constant current control, thermal monitoring, and programmable current settings. This eliminates the need for external components and simplifies the design process, allowing designers to quickly develop products with enhanced functionality. This PMIC – LED driver contains 4 hardware-controllable, software-programmable, color-selectable channels to drive up to 4 simultaneous independent LEDs.

The ASIC incorporates a regulated charge-pump circuit that uses an N-MOSFET as a power switch to supply a constant current for higher system efficiency. The output stage features an on-chip linear control with PWM-compatible dimming. In addition, the integrated regulators reduce the need for additional power components and provide an adjustable current setting for up to 150mA per channel at up to 1V voltage drop. Further, the AS3636-ZWLT offers programmable over voltage protection and exceptional load cross-sensitivity that helps ensure system safety in the event of LED failures.

The Devices have also been designed with an integrated high performance protection mechanism which will help protect against electrical surges of up to 40V on the VLED’s. The AS3636-ZWLT offers a wide variety of LED control modes including PWM dimming, toggling, logical and Constant Voltage. The adjustable frequency for PWM dimming between 5 KHz and 1 MHz also allows for a wide array of control rates. This PMIC – LED driver also provides thermal monitoring and protection, current and voltage monitoring and an adjustable brightness dimming feature.

The AS3636-ZWLT is ideal for portable or battery-powered devices that need to drive multiple LEDs of different colors. This PMIC – LED driver can be used in a wide range of applications including mobile phones, PNDs, digital cameras, and any device requiring localized and adjustable illumination.
