Encoders are used to convert rotary or linear motion of a motor into electronic pulses to control the motion of a system. The AS5047P-ATSM is a high-resolution rotary position encoder which converts the rotation of a motor shaft into digital signals. It can detect up to 14-bits of single-turn resolution and 45-bits of multi-turn resolution, offering a resolution up to 0.0879° electrical angle. The encoder also features an integrated 14-bit A/B differential hall-effect angular position sensor and on-chip circuitry to interpret the output.
The AS5047P-ATSM application field is highly varied. It is commonly used in electrical steering systems, for controlling the movement of robots, and in feedback loops in motorized systems like tachometers and flow meters. Other applications include medical equipment, communications systems, automatic doors, ventilation systems and industrial machines.
The working principle of the AS5047P-ATSM is based on the use of Hall-effect sensors. When a motor shaft splits into two segments, it creates a gap between the two segments which the Hall-effect sensors detect. This motion is then converted into a digital signal which can be interpreted by the on-chip circuitry. The digital signal is converted into an analog signal which can then be used to control the motor.
The AS5047P-ATSM can detect up to 14-bits of single-turn resolution and 45-bits of multi-turn resolution, offering a resolution up to 0.0879° electrical angle. It also features an integrated low-power consumption, differential bus structure, an A/D-output, and an integrated EEPROM memory. The encoder also supports programmable bracket functions and can provide an output rate of up to 6000 pulses per revolution.
The AS5047P-ATSM is a reliable and precise encoder for controlling the movement of motors in feedback loops.
