Introduction

The AS5261-HMFP is a high-performance position sensor developed by AS-Sensor GmbH which can be used for various applications, such as motor control, robotics, automation, static measurements and much more. Working Principle

The AS5261-HMFP is a Hall-effect position sensor designed to sense linear or angular displacement. It utilizes a patented Hall-effect circuit to detect the changes in the magnetic flux density of the target material. The detected signals are pre-processed and then converted into a 12-bit digital signal which is output via the I2C bus. The sensor has a built-in Hall-effect element which enables it to measure the angular displacement of a rotating shaft in the range of 0 to 360 degrees, or the linear displacement of a target material in the range of 0 to 5mm. The Hall-effect element is placed inside the AS5261-HMFP circuit and has a fixed location relative to the other elements. The Hall-effect element is sensitive to changes in the magnetic field of the target material and generates and output signal based on the polarity of the radio field. This is pre-processed by the AS5261-HMFP’s integrated circuit and converted into a 12-bit digital signal which is output via the I2C bus. The signal is then processed by the connected microcontroller or application processor and used to determine the position of the target material.
