The AS5263-HQFM is an exceptional angle position sensor that uses a contactless, high-resolution, 360 degrees end-to-end absolute measuring system. This position transducer is designed to detect and measure the absolute angle of any given rotary plat with a single measurement. The transducer is composed of an inductive angle sensor IC, an on-chip ADC, and a range of optional customer specific parameters.

The angle position sensor uses a high frequency field modulation (HFDM) technique to measure the angular displacement of a rotary platform. To perform this task, the sensor uses two high frequency magnetic signal sources that are connected to a common rotating disk. The source signals are modulated in a binary modulation pattern to generate a signal that is correlated with the angle of the rotating disk. The signal is detected by the probe, consisting of four main elements, and converted into a digital signal by the rotation detection logic.

The first element is the angle range scanning unit, which uses three separate sensors to calculate the {angle range} for the periodic sine wave that is generated by the HFDM technique. This scan is accomplished by measuring the field-induced nonlinearities and null points of the signal. The null points of the signal provide a reference point to measure the changing angle. The rotation detection logic then turns the detected signal directly into a digital signal, which can be used to accurately determine the angular displacement of the platform.

The second element of this transducer is the angle resolution scanning unit, which is designed to measure the small changes in the angle. This unit uses two separate scanning techniques to measure the rotation step size and the phase shift. This is accomplished by measuring the field-induced nonlinearities and calculating the number of points required to detect a given angular displacement. The angular displacement output is then used to feedback the actual displacement of the platform to the main controller.

The third element is the voltage range scanning unit, which is designed to measure the voltage range that is generated by the HFDM technique. This type of scanning ensures that the sensor works across a wide voltage range, as the sensor must be able to operate in environments with different power specifications. The fourth element is the closed loop control unit, which is designed to maintain the accuracy of the measured angles. This unit also houses the main controller and the built-in micro-controller.

The AS5263-HQFM angle position sensor provides a wide range of applications, from automotive and industrial purposes to medical environments. These sensors use a contactless, high-resolution technique to measure angles with extreme accuracy and reliability.
