Working Principle

AT28C010-12DM/883 is a CMOS 1 Megabit non-volatile memory device. The device is organized as 131,072 words of 8 bits each. The device is used in both read and write operations and can be accessed randomly by row or by column. The device also features extended endurance with a guaranteed 1,000,000 write/erase endurance.

During a write operation, data is written in the memory array through the row and column address lines. Data is both programmed and verified on the selected row. The programming operation then reduces its voltage compared to the non-programmed memory locations in the same block. A verification is done on the same row to detect any data programming errors.

To erase a block of data in the array, the device uses a special \'Erase Enable\' command to prepare the array for the erase operation. Upon completion of the erase operation, the array is verified to ensure proper erasure. AT28C010-12DM/883 is equipped with an on-chip Erase Suspend mechanism, allowing a block busy condition to be suspended during the erase operation.

To read data from the AT28C010-12DM/883, a column address is used to access the memory locations. Data is then read out of the memory array through the data bus lines.
