The AT89LS51-16AC is an 8-bit microcontroller released by Atmel, with an architecture-contained by a Harvard type, with extended RAM space and less data memory, and better compatibility with industry standard devices such as the PC. It is designed and released for extremely low-cost, low-power and low-voltage microcontroller application fields such as for industrial control, automotive, LED display and laptop mainboard.
The AT89LS51-16AC is an 8-bit microcontroller that is capable of executing 500,000 instructions per second, divide two 16-bit numbers, and provides a total of 16 multi-function I/O lines. The process architecture of the microcontroller is based on the 8051 and contains an 8-bit central processing unit, a program memory, a data memory and some input and output ports among other components. The processor features a 4-level deep power-down mode which helps runtime performance and saves on energy by reducing the impact of dynamic and static power consumption thereby optimizing the processor for low-power applications. The power-down mode also ensures 100% wake up from any sleep state, making the processor suitable for industrial applications that need features such as brown out detection, powering-off and USB wakeup.
The AT89LS51-16AC also features an 8-bit accumulator, a register file, an 8-level priority interrupt controller, a four-level priority interrupt controller, a serial port, two 16-bit timers, two 16-bit counter-timers and a 32-bit program memory size.
The AT89LS51-16AC also includes an external on-chip memory interface that allows connection of external memories up to 4KB of external code (or 4KB of external data) memory. It also includes an integrated flash memory which also supports direct programming with high-speed operations using the in-system program programming (ISPP) feature. In addition, the AT89LS51-16AC contains a 12-bit Analog-to-Digital converter (ADC) with a 12-bit resolution which enables the processor to interact with analog signals.
The AT89LS51-16AC operates with a voltage range of 2.5V to 4V and has a power consumption range of 2-20 milliwatts. It also features an on-chip temperature sensor, a comparator, a 16-bit system clock and a 32-bit watchdog timer. Additionally, the device contains an On-Chip Debug (OCD) interface which enables easier development, debugging, and testing.
