AT91SAM7S256-MU Application Field and Working Principle
The AT91SAM7S256-MU is a new low-power NAND Flash embedded microcontroller built upon the ARM7TDMI-S 32-bit core. Developed by semiconductor manufacturer Atmel, the microcontroller provides simplified integration into systems requiring secure, easy to use applications for cost-efficiently driving the Internet of Things. Securely powered by an ARM Cortex-M3 core, the low-power microcontroller is ideal for embedded applications such as data acquisition, automotive, industrial automation, machine-to-machine and remote monitoring.
Atmel\'s AT91SAM7S256-MU has a range of features that provide flexibility to embedded program designers. Built on an ARM7TDMI-S core, the AT91SAM7S256-MU can operate at speeds up to 32 MHz and includes 128KB of SRAM, 256KB of flash memory and 32KB of ROM. The controller also includes a USB 2.0 and CAN port, six generic timers, one USART and one USART with the wake-up feature. The device incorporates the benefits of the Atmel Core400 family by including a range of connected, intelligent and secure solutions. In addition, highly reliable power supplies are included with low total current consumption performance to enhance power management.
The AT91SAM7S256-MU is built on Atmel\'s SecureARM core architecture, providing advanced security measures against malicious attacks. Security features provided by the AT91SAM7S256-MU include hardware cryptographic acceleration, hardware random number generator and hardware authentication based on AES encryption. The core features an Embedded Secure Engine (ESE) to store user authentication, data encryption, cryptographic algorithm execution and application code execution. The AT91SAM7S256-MU contains a large memory, including 128KB of SRAM, 256KB of flash memory, and 32KB of ROM, allowing for full real-time and deep embedded multithreading.
The AT91SAM7S256-MU incorporates Atmel\'s Advanced Peripheral Bridge (APB), which provides an integrated connection between memory, peripherals, and internal peripherals. The APB2 is an efficient bus protocol that allows for the easy management of an internal processor core, the flash memory and the SRAM. The AT91SAM7S256-MU has several GPIO ports that provide flexibility to the user. These ports give the user the ability to set, control and monitor multiple digital signals, making this a suitable device for embedded applications.
The AT91SAM7S256-MU can also be easily embedded into existing systems. The device includes an embedded USB driver, which allows quick integration into existing embedded systems. In addition, the USB driver provides direct access to high-speed Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 devices and 2.0 compatible I/O systems. Additionally, the device supports CANbus, which facilitates communication between CAN nodes, allowing for the development of distributed control systems.
The AT91SAM7S256-MU also has built-in Ethernet hardware. The device supports both 10/100 Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, allowing for a streamlined network data transfer. Additionally, the device can be interfaced with SPI and UART for communication with a wide range of peripherals such as smart cards, USB devices, shift registers and more.
