The ATA6829-T3QY-44 is an automotive-grade 3-phased gate driver, constructed using advanced semiconductor materials and methods to promote better performance and reliability. It is part of a family of integrated motor controllers developed by Atmel specifically with high-performance motor control applications in mind. The ATA6829-T3QY-44 is available in an ultra-compact SOIC-20 package for space-constrained applications.The ATA6829-T3QY-44 is designed to drive the gates of three-phase switching devices such as MOSFETs and IGBTs. It operates with a range of supply voltages, from 10V to 50V and also provides a maximum peak gateway current of up to 44A. It supports High-Side PWM/Low-Side PWM, PWM Buffer and independent control of three low-side switches. The device also offers Unidirectional Slow Turn On Time, Bidirectional Fast Turn Off Time, and surge protection to protect against short circuits and over-current conditions. The ATA6829-T3QY-44 is a cost-effective solution for driving three-phase Brushless DC (BLDC) motors as well as three-phase AC Induction (ACI) motors. It easily integrates into motor applications requiring seamless control, such as automotive and industrial automation. In terms of programmability, the ATA6829-T3QY-44 can be set for a variety of configurations. Firstly, it can be configured for a PWM buffer, which provides possible protection of the drive from potential inductive voltages from the motor bridge switching nodes. The PWM buffer conditions the PWM signals and reduces their amplitude below the maximum gate voltage. The PWM buffer also offers polarity-dependent driving, which allows the peaks and valleys of the PWM signal to be switched independently of each other. Additionally, the gate driver can be configured for independent 3-phase low-side switching, which provides precise control of the powered devices. This configuration also ensures that the switching of the gates happens in a balanced manner.
