The ATmega16-16AJ is a low-power CMOS 8-bit microcontroller based on the AVR enhanced RISC architecture. It features 16K bytes of In-System Programmable Flash memory, 512 bytes of EEPROM, and 1K bytes of SRAM, 2K bytes of Internal SRAM. It has 16 I/O lines, 32-general purpose working registers, three flexible Timers/Counters with compare modes, three PWM channels, four Analog Comparators and a JTAG interface for On-chip Debugging.

The device supports a full range of programmable features such as Power-Save, Sleep and Watchdog Timer and External Interrupts. This enables applications that require low power consumption and reliability. The device also supports self-programming which allows users to update their code without the need for an external programmer.
