Crystals are widely used to accurately measure time and for electronic circuits requiring stability. One example is the ATS32A-E, a low-power monolithic CMOS crystal clock oscillator. It is designed to operate in the range of 1.0MHz to 50MHz and offers exceptional performance over a wide temperature range.

The ATS32A-E is a small, low-cost, highly integrated oscillator designed to be used as a clock source in many applications, such as cellular phones, paging systems, digital cameras, digital video recorders and personal digital assistants (PDAs). It features a low power consumption of less than 500 microwatts and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.

The ATS32A-E is a crystal oscillator with two main components: a quartz crystal resonator and an integrated circuit (IC). The quartz crystal resonator is the component that produces a constant, stable frequency and the IC provides the driving power for the oscillation. This cyclic change causes the oscillator to generate the frequency determined by the quartz crystal.
