The ATSAM4L-EK is a versatile, low-cost evaluation system that enables designers to quickly evaluate features of ARM-based microcontrollers and DSPs. It is built around the Atmel | SMART SAM4L Cortex-M4F-based microcontroller, exemplifying the features of the SAM4L series of microcontrollers for functional operation. The system provides an ATSAM4L-EK baseboard, which is supported by Atmel Studio 6, drivers, sample programs, board schematics, and a user guide.
Application Field
ATSAM4L-EK is mainly used in designs of microcontrollers and DSPs. It supports most of the Atmel | SMART ARM Cortex-M4F based microcontroller families, allowing designers to easily evaluate, develop and prototype projects. Working Principle
The ATSAM4L-EK is based on an Atmel | SMART SAM4L ARM Cortex-M4F microcontroller. It features dual clock systems: a High-Frequency internal clock (32MHz) and an Ultra-Low-Frequency sub-system clock (32.768kHz). The board also consists of a variety of peripherals and power management capabilities optimized for low power operation.
The ATSAM4L-EK board includes a set of peripheral modules to act as a bus. This includes USART, I2C, SPI, PIO, DMA controllers, advanced timer modules, and more. This architecture provides a flexible interconnect between peripherals and allows complex data transfer from one peripheral to another.
The Advanced Peripheral Bus (APB) is supported by the ATSAM4L-EK, which enables designers to easily add all kinds of features and capabilities to their project. The ATSAM4L-EK also features an integrated Power Management Unit (PMU) to facilitate low power operation. The ATSAM4L-EK also features an integrated Security Module (SecM).
