This device offers advanced performance in all areas and is optimized to meet the requisites of many applications including, consumer electronics, automotive components, and off-line computer/telecom power systems. This device has a 15V breakdown voltage range and a 175A peak surge current capability and has been designed with an integrated ultra-low resistance and ultra-fast response time. It has a maximum breakdown voltage of 15V and a clamping voltage of 26.7V. It features symmetric and asymmetric over-voltage protection and its built-in diode-biased avalanche structure eliminates the need for additional protection components for over-voltage protection.The working principle and operation of the ATV15C171J-HF Transient Voltage Suppressor is quite straight forward. The device functions by monitoring the supply voltage for any fluctuations and absorbs any transformer and/or ESD-induced surges. In normal operation, the device remains in the off state and the circuitry connected to it remains operational within its specified voltage margin. When a transient event occurs, the device is triggered and conducts a surge of current to present the circuit from the over-voltage. It is then able to limit the voltage to a safe range, providing a high level of protection. When the surge ceases, the ATV15C171J-HF diode returns to its off state. Subsequent excessive surge conditions will generate a new attempt to limit the voltage level with the same results. The device is self-restorative and after each transient event, the device returns back to normal operation.The ATV15C171J-HF offers surge capability of 175A and operates in temperatures from -55°C to +175°C, making this device ideal for extreme environments. The device also offers an exceptionally low leakage current of 0.001µA, which allows the device to remain in the off state for long periods of time yet still respond quickly to transient events. The ATV15C171J-HF Transient Voltage Suppressor is highly dependable and requires no external components to operate, reducing the cost and complexity of the overall system. In applications such as consumer electronics, automotive components, or computer power systems, this device can be deployed to protect against excessive voltage transients without the need for bulky, expensive components.
