Polymer positive temperature coefficient thermistors (PTC thermistors) are temperature sensors based on ceramic materials which exhibit a positive temperature coefficient resistance. These types of thermistors offer self-regulating properties that when used in combination with resistors can create an adjustable current, voltage or power source.
The B59850T1120A62 is a PTC thermistor device manufactured by Bosch Sensortec. It has a standard temperature range of -40 to 125 degrees Celsius and a resolution of 10K-1K ohms from zero to 100 degrees Celsius.

Working Principle
The B59850T1120A62 PTC thermistor device works by sensing the temperature and providing an electrical resistance reading. This resistance value will change depending on the temperature of the device. When the temperature increases, the resistance value will decrease which in turn will cause a decrease in current flow.
The device is made up of a base metal layer, a protective film, a metal oxide layer, and a ceramic substrate. In operation, the metal oxide layer will absorb energy in the form of heat. This causes a change in the electrical resistance of the metal oxide layer. The resistance change is proportional to the temperature change. The resistance is measured and provided as an electrical signal.
The B59850T1120A62 has an accuracy of up to +/- 0.3° Celsius (+/- 3° Fahrenheit) and is relatively low cost. This makes it an ideal choice for temperature sensing applications where accuracy and cost are important.
