BA7612N is an analog switch integrated circuit with 4 channels specifically designed to operate in the audio frequency range. It is suitable for switching applications in audio, motor control, and other systems where noise reduction is a priority. This type of switched device, often also known as a Multiplexer, is used to switch between several signals and one output. The BA7612N is a low-noise analog switch with four channels, each of which is separately controlled. Each switch features ‘on-resistances’ of less than 10 Ohms and capacitances of less than 10pF. Furthermore, these analog switches feature low-voltage control, a low-power standby mode, and high-frequency switching. The typical applications of the BA7612N include in the switching of signals, such as audio signals for Hi-Fi systems, radio-frequency signals, and power amplifiers. Additionally, it is frequently used in motor control circuits since it provides noise-free switching of signals. The principle of operation of the BA7612N is simple. It works by means of an integrated gate array which allows an unlimited number of switches to be set up and controlled with ease. The switches can be controlled either manually via the control inputs, or automatically via an external control input. The basic functional block diagram of the BA7612N is as follows:The device consists of four independent switches, each of which contains two MOSFET transistors. The MOSFET transistors are used to connect the ‘input/output’ pins to either one of the ‘control’ pins to turn the switch ‘on/off’. The ‘control’ pins are connected to the logic inputs, which allow for the automatic setting of the switches. When a logic high is applied to the control pin, the MOSFET transistor will be turned ‘on’, thus allowing the switch to be active. This, in turn, will allow the signal to be transferred from the ‘input’ to the ‘output’ pins. Conversely, when a logic low is applied to the control pin, the MOSFET transistor will be turned ‘off’, hence the signal will not be transferred to the ‘output’ pin. The BA7612N is also equipped with a built-in protection feature which, when enabled, will protect against current flow in the reverse direction. Additionally, it will protect against over-current, over-temperature, and under-voltage conditions. The BA7612N is an ideal device for any application where noise-free switching of signals is required. It is suitable for usage in a broad range of applications, such as audio, radio-frequency, and motor control. The integrated gate array allows for ease of use, and the built-in protection features ensure safe and reliable operation.
