The BCM5714CKPBG is a highly advanced and highly efficient 10GBASE-T Layer 2 Ethernet and FoCIP (Fibre Channel over IP/Optical) Transceiver. It is designed to provide increased networking capacity, bandwidth and I/O (Input/Output) support to enterprise, datacenter, cloud and data center environments. As such, the BCM5714CKPBG has been designed with energy efficiency as a key driver and is capable of providing a maximum of ten Gigabits/second of data, as well as providing the high-end performance needed to offer the best possible reaction times for end users.
The BCM5714CKPBG is a systems on chip (SoC) designed for power and performance, coupled with power management and energy efficiency as its primary goals. The BCM5714CKPBG is capable of providing the networks of today with higher transmission rates, improved power efficiency, and more cost effective devices. As well as increased network capacity and bandwidth, the BCM5714CKPBG features a diverse selection of interface options, advanced error correction algorithms, acceleration support, and integrated power management. The BCM5714CKPBG is also designed to work in varying OC modes and can operate in either single chip of dual chip implementations.
The BCM5714CKPBG is ideal for applications where low power consumption and large throughput are important, such as Enterprise and Data Center networking, FCoE (Fiber Channel over Ethernet) and iSCSI (Internet SCSI) SANs; wireless access networks; and low power/low cost devices. Moreover, the SoC is designed to be integrated into a variety of systems including network routers, enterprise server blades, and storage appliances, as well as providing support for 10GE-WAN and 10GE-SAN applications.
The BCM5714CKPBG is a versatile transceiver and integrates both physical layer (PHY) and MAC (Media Access Control) functions, and supports a range of protocols, such as Fibre Channel and iSCSI. Additionally, the SoC is designed to operate in three optimized modes of operation (Normal, Low Power, and High Throughput), depending on the application requirements.
