The BD1865GWL-E2 is a monolithic switching voltage regulator of NVCORE series with high efficiency for applications such as automotive, phone, internet of things, and industrial. It is a step-down DC/DC switching regulator that can provide its output voltage at 2.5 V/3.3V/5V with a maximum current current up to 3.5 A. It is an ideal solution for power management for systems that require high efficiency and are limited in the space of board. The BD1865GWL-E2 is a member of a larger family of DC/DC converters that includes the LDO, linear and multiple-model switching voltage regulators.The BD1865GWL-E2 was designed to meet some general specifications, such as wide input voltage range (2.5 V to 5.25 V), high load transient performance, and output voltage accuracy of ±1.5%. It supports high-frequency operation with 1 MHz switching frequency and provides a 95% efficiency. The BD1865GWL-E2 supplies the device and full-load conditions. The output voltage can be externally adjusted by using the enable signal EN, output voltage sequencer (VSP) and the enable signal (EN) with signal margin of 2.5V. The output voltage can be externally adjusted from 1.7V to 6V and the maximum output current is 3.5A. It also supports overvoltage and overload protection.The basic working principle of the BD1865GWL-E2 is to convert the input voltage into a regulated dc voltage. It consists of a power MOSFET and a controller IC, which comprise the power stage. The controller IC acts as a switch between the input voltage and the output voltage and the power MOSFET enhances the efficiency of the voltage conversion process by regulating the output voltage. Moreover, the controller IC monitors the input current and the output voltage and adjusts the switching frequency of the power MOSFET accordingly.
