BD6071HFN-TR is a device of PMIC-LED Drivers from ROHM Semiconductor. It is a single-chip current driver IC for direct drive of a single-channel LED and is available for white LED backlighting for LCD panels. This device combines the functions of the PCU (protective circuit unit) and the continuous light dimming control circuit to form a single-chip current driver IC for direct driving of a single-channel LED which simplifies the design process. The main application field of BD6071HFN-TR is in LCD backlight system. The device is also suitable for use in automotive instrument clusters. BD6071HFN-TR provides a continuous control of light dimming by setting the voltage with a resistor, and it is capable of driving LEDs connected in series or parallel. To extend battery life and maximize the utility of IPS LCD panels, it supports PWM dimming. The working principle of BD6071HFN-TR is based on the way that the brightness of the LED is varied. In the continuous light dimming control circuit, the brightness is varied using a voltage source with a predetermined voltage-resistance characteristics.
