BDTL27 Application Field and Working PrincipleBDTL27 series disconnect switches are designed to provide a safe disconnection of a load from the primary distribution system for the purposes of maintenance, testing and troubleshooting. These types of switch are widely used for different kinds of controlling circuit or isolating circuit in the fields of power station, petro-chemical industry, electricity distribution system, industrial and mining operations and so on.The clean design and compact size makes it perfectly suitable for use in both indoors and outdoors.The general working principle of BDTL27 switch is similar to the basic setup of a single-pole, knife type switch. A stationary contact and a moveable contact are connected in parallel for each connection. The actuating lever is designed to open and close the two contacts simultaneously to enable complete disconnection of the load from the power supply. The moveable contact is controlled by an operating arm which is connected to the actuating lever. When the actuating lever is flipped downwards, the moveable contact is pulled towards the stationary contact, creating a current pathway. When the actuating lever is flipped towards the stationary contact, the contacts are pushed apart preventing current flow and thereby disconnecting the load from the power supply.The BDTL27 disconnect switch is double-break in design to provide a safe and reliable isolation from the primary power grid. It is UL 1077 and CSA 22.2 certified for use in North America, and has connectors with a current rating up to 1,000 amps for up to 600 volts. It is also rated for up to 6,000 volts for limited endurance.
