Film Capacitors

Working Principle

The BFC246841274 film capacitor works by storing electric charge on two metal plates. The dielectric material between the plates is what allows the capacitor to store the charge. The stored charge can then be used for a variety of purposes, such as providing power for equipment or filtering power from noise in electronic circuits.

When voltage is applied to the capacitor, free electrons in the metal plates become attracted to the plate of opposite charge. As the plates come closer together, the electric field between them weakens, reducing the amount of charge that can be stored. This also reduces the voltage across the capacitor, thus limiting the amount of current that can flow through it.

When the current flow stops, the capacitor begins to discharge. As the electric field between the plates increases, the voltage across the capacitor increases until it reaches a point where the current flow stops. This cycle will continue until the capacitor’s charge has been completely discharged. This process is known as capacitive discharge.
