Gas Discharge Tube Arresters (GDT), one of an advanced level of surge protection devices, is designed with a high arc extinction capability and have low operating and follow current values. A typical GDT is often made of porcelain, having a length ranging from 1 to 6 inches, which may contain anywhere from 2 to 8 tubes filled with an inert gas. The conductive particles are being provided to the active Region, allowing a surge to travel through the tube and getting grounded upon contact.

BPG255NPE is a silicon-oxide-based GDT, is designed as a general-purpose and medium-voltage surge arrester for use in a variety of applications, such as Telecommunications Equipment, Electrical Meters, Lightning Protection, and Motor Control Circuit Surge Protection.
