It features a low capacitance mosfet, current and voltage (DC/DC) measurement, cell balancing, and integrated battery charger, making it suitable for applications such as portable computers, cellular phones, pagers, and medical devices.

Working Principle: The BQ2023PW benefits from an integrated high accuracy delta-sigma A/D converter and a low-power, low-noise CMOS-based uC that act as the main controller. The device supports battery life-cycle monitoring, shutdown functions, and digital cell-balancing. Additionally, it offers over-current protection, over-temperature protection, over-voltage protection, and under-voltage protection.The BQ2023PW requires a minimum of four external components to implement a digital battery monitoring/balancing/charging. It integrates integrated low-resistance POL (Power FET Driver) circuitry, allowing the user to easily configure the system power supply components.The BQ2023PW can be programmed to begin charging the battery as soon as the system is powered on. The device includes an alarm signal for the system controller to inform the user that the battery needs to be charged. The device also includes an LED (charge current-controlled LED) to notify the user of the charging status of the battery.
