BR1D10UC application field and working principle

The BR1D10UC is a type of circuit breaker, which is an essential safety device used in an electrical system to ensure safe operation. A circuit breaker is designed to detect a fault and then shut off the circuit to prevent an overload or short circuit from creating a hazard. This type of breaker is suitable for use in a variety of locations and applications, ranging from residential to commercial and industrial use.

The BR1D10UC is an AC-rated circuit breaker which is a robust, DIN-rail mounted unit that meets all safety requirements. This type of breaker is suitable for applications up to 1,000 VAC and 10A, which should be suitable for most applications. As a double pole breaker it is ideal for providing additional protection in applications where a current imbalance may occur. In operation the BR1D10UC uses a thermal-magnetic type of operation. In this arrangement a metal strip near the current input is heated by the electrical current passing through it. Should the current reach a pre-set limit, the metal strip will expand reaching a trip point and breaking the circuit. The unit is also fitted with a bimetallic strip which detects increases in temperature and trips the breaker.

The unit also has a magnetic trip system which works in a similar manner to its thermal trip system. As electrical current passes through the unit a small metal core begins to generate a magnetic field. If the current passing through the circuit is too high, the magnetic field generated can cause a trip mechanism to break the circuit. The combination of thermal and magnetic tripping ensures that both overloads and short circuits are quickly detected.

In addition to its thermal and magnetic protection the BR1D10UC is also fitted with a manual trip button and test button. As the name implies the test button is used to test the unit to ensure it is working correctly. The manual trip button allows the circuit to be manually shut off, providing a secondary means of safely disconnecting the power should the need arise.
