A TRIAC, or triode for alternating current, is an electronic device composed of two serially connected thyristors in a single case, which allows for current to flow in both directions. The BTA216B-600F,118 is a TRIAC from NXP (formerly Philips Semiconductors). It is designed for 120V AC On/Off switching applications and is a 600V, 16A, hysteretic SCROutput Thyristor or TRIAC.The main application field of the BTA216B-600F,118 is switching. When the current reaches the lower threshold value, the reverse current flow is blocked by a diac.The working principle of the BTA216B-600F,118 is based on the triggering of two thyristors at the same time by the same gate signal.
