BTS5482SFXUMA2 application field and working principle

The BTS5482SFXUMA2 is a fully integrated low-side load switch featuring low input current, small size, and low voltage-drop. The PMIC-Power Distribution Switches, Load Drivers, is designed for medium and large current applications on automotive systems and other mission critical applications. It is specifically developed as a low power-loss, low-driving voltage, yet high-load currents solution, making it suitable for applications in modern automotive systems.

BTS5482SFXUMA2 integrates thermal shutdown protection, self-protection in case of wrong connections and two integrated SPDT switches. The first switch is a high-side switch with over-temperature and over-current sensing to protect against potential overload, while the other is a low-side switch for load regulation. The load is connected to the high-side switch and the low-side switch is controlled by the external voltage.

The low input current requirement enables effective power conservation, as the low-side switch is only active when necessary for the system. This feature makes the BTS5482SFXUMA2 suitable for battery operated and low power consumption applications. It also includes a wide input voltage range of 6.5V to 65V, ensuring compatibility with most common automotive battery voltages.
