BU8872FS-E2 is an object-oriented, high-performance software-defined radio (SDR) designed to operationalize high-performance, scalable and reliable radios. The chipset integrates a wide range of modules, such as a single-chip Front-End DSP, an amplifier, a voltage-controlled oscillator, a 70 GHz RF mixer, and a RF-ADC. The chipset’s diversified nature allows it to not only interface with a wide range of applications, but also offer a scalability of performance, from high to low frequencies.
The BU8872FS-E2 radio is primarily used in the cellular and telecommunications industry, utilizing an open-source software development environment to create modules that support integration of proprietary and standard protocols. Using the BU8872FS-E2 radio, users can develop their own system-level radio solutions. The chipset’s flexibility also simplifies the development process, allowing users to quickly design, build and deploy large-scale wireless networks. Additionally, the radio’s comprehensive feature set, including a channelizer, channelizer port programmability, and a mu/mu-less architecture, enables users to design complex, distributed networks.
The BU8872FS-E2 works by using a software-defined radio (SDR) which can be programmed to transmit and receive data in a variety of ways. The BU8872FS-E2 uses a multi-band frequency approach which allows for concurrent data transmissions in three different frequency bands. The radio includes nine simultaneous radio paths, as well as a pair of digital interface ports. In order to send and receive data, the radio employs four main functions. The main components of the chipset are the RF-ADC, the voltage-controlled oscillator, the amplifier and the front-end DSP.
The BU8872FS-E2 transmits electronic signals by converting the electric signals from the transmitter into acoustic signals, commonly referred to as radio waves. These radio waves then travel at the speed of light to the receiver, where they are converted back into electric signals. The RF-ADC converts the input electric signals into digital signals while the VCO produces the carrier wave. The voltage-controlled oscillator is used to produce the frequency of the transmitted signal and the amplifier amplifies the signal before being transmitted. Finally, the front-end DSP processes the signal and transmits it to the receiver.
The BU8872FS-E2’s scalability, openness and ease in engineering complex networks makes it an attractive and cost-efficient solution for a wide range of telecommunications applications. It’s high-performance capabilities and open-source environment makes it an ideal solution for cellular, wireless and broadband applications. The radio’s ability to support various communication standards, including LTE, VoLTE, WiMAX and 3G/4G technologies, further augment its versatility and make it suitable for mobile and fixed-line voice, high-speed internet access, and other data transmission applications.
