BZT52HC6V8WF-7 is a small signal twin pamac diode, featuring a low working reverse voltage of 6 Volts (V) and a maximum power dissipation of 500 milliwatts (mW). This diode can also be used as a frequency-dependent filter or limiter, protecting electronic devices in various applications.
Application Field
This device can be primarily used to protect the output circuits of audio amplifiers and power supplies in general. It can be used in any electronic application which requires protection against voltage transients or as local rectifier in communications and electrical engineering. These diodes can also be used in other power-semiconductor applications such as bridge rectifiers, thermal heaters, LED light modules and contactors, just to name a few.
Additionally, this diode can be used as a current derivator and as a voltage transmitter in batteries. With a large value of power dissipation, it ensures a good current regulation.
Working Principle
The diode installation requires two terminals in order to allow current flowing through one direction (generally from the anode terminal). As soon as voltage is applied, the junction starts to convert it into current, creating a voltage ripple across it. This is why this diode is also referred to as ‘twin pamac’. This ripple voltage is proportional to the current the diode has been exposed to.
In order to avoid a huge voltage drop, the forward bias region of the diode should always be taken into account. Additionally, this diode exhibits a certain level of voltage regulation, thus it can be used in combination with a voltage regulator and act as a ‘current filter’. This will enable a better performance and control the current ripple for higher-level voltages.
Another application for this diode is its utilization as a voltage limiter. When installed in parallel with a power supply or a high-frequency source, it will limit the voltage or current to a certain level set by the diode\'s characteristic.
