Nowadays, C10G12 application field and working principle is widely discussed in the calculation and application of electrical, specialty fuses. C10G12, or Form W, is a circuit protection device that functions as a switch. It is usually used in the electrical control system, which is composed of several circuit breakers, fuses, and other auxiliary components. It is the main protection device in the circuit, and its working principle is mainly based on the electric-thermal characteristics of the fuse element.

First of all, a C10G12 fuse forms a complete circuit breaker by electrically connecting one side of the fuse with the load end of the circuit, and the other side of the fuse with the power supply or the upstream terminal of the circuit. When an overcurrent or overload occurs, the heat generated by the electric current within the fuse element will cause the fuse to melt, and the circuit between the fuse and the power supply or circuit breaker will be interrupted, thus isolating the protected circuit.

The working principle of the C10G12 fuse is also closely related to its physical structure. This type of fuse has two main components: the fuse element and the fuse body. The fuse element consists of a metal fuse wire and a plastic insulation jacket. When an overcurrent passes through the fuse wire, the heat generated by the electric current causes the fuse element to expand, creating a gap between the fuse and the fuse body, thus breaking the circuit.

Furthermore, C10G12 fuse also has a temperature coefficient, which determines the force of fuse breaking. Under normal circumstances, the temperature coefficient of the fuse element will increase with the increase of temperature. Therefore, when the temperature coefficient of the fuse element reaches a certain value, the fuse element will expand significantly, thus quickly interrupting the circuit.

In addition, the C10G12 fuse has a time-delay characteristic that prevents circuit breakage under normal, low-level overcurrents. This involves the operation of a time delay mechanism, which is composed of a bimetallic strip and an adjustable spring. The bimetallic strip is connected to the fuse element, and the spring helps control the force of contact between the fuse element and the bimetallic strip. When a low-level overcurrent occurs, the heat generated by the overcurrent will cause the bimetallic strip to expand, breaking the contact between the fuse element and the bimetallic strip, and delaying the circuit breaker.
