By controlling the current sent to the gate, the C435M can be used to precisely regulate the current sent to an appliance.

When the SCR is activated, the anode and cathode terminals remain connected, and the current continues to flow until the gate current is discontinued, or a back-voltage is applied across the anode and the cathode. This back voltage, also known as the reverse blocking voltage, is the voltage level at which the device is turned off.
