Thyristors - SCRs

Thyristors are type of semiconductor devices that have three or more connecting terminals and can be used for controlling and switching of electrotechnical systems. One type of thyristor, the gate-controlled Thyristor (or SCR for short) is a rectifying device with four semiconductor layers whose function is to block the current flow in one direction and allow the current to pass in the opposite direction.

The C50BX500 is one type of SCR capable of handling 500 amperes of current at a maximum of 1700 volts. It is a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) with reverse recovery time and low turn-off time.
