Application Field of C531308020

Both the C531308020 and its predecessor, the C531308020, are dual-channel transceivers. It is widely used in industrial automation and control related systems, including industrial communication systems such as MODBUS, METASTE, DALI, BACnet etc., and can be used as data gateways in control or coordination of systems. It can also be found in a variety of other projects where long-distance, reliable, and low-latency serial communication is desired such as CANBus over RS-485/422 connections.

Working Principle

The working principle of the C531308020 is that two RS485/422 data signals are transmitted and received in a differential form. These signals are transmitted in half-duplex, where data can only be sent or received at one end at a time. The RS485/422 bus connection can be wired in a variety of ways, for example, in a multi-drop configuration, and only one device needs to have termination resistors on its Tx and Rx paths.

When the logic voltage of the C531308020 is low, the device is in listening status. First, the device needs to be placed in receiving mode, to do this, the host or control system has to set the D-level in HIGH, so that the DE and RE pins stay in HIGH status also. Then, when a data package is sent from the external device, the C531308020 will be in receiving mode, and receive the data package and transfer it to the host or control system.

The C531308020 also has data transmission functionality. In order to transmit data from the host or control system, the R/W pin needs to be set in HIGH status for C531308020 to be in writing mode. When enabled, the transmit pins will be in HIGH status and the D level will be driven from the host. Then, depending on the speed of the data rate, the device will continuously transmit data until the transmission has been complete, then it will automatically disable the transmission.
